I was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX until the age of 11. I then moved from the 'big city' to a 'little town' in East TX called Pineland. In my mind at the time, it was the absolute worst thing that could have happened to me. Yes, I rebelled...and swore to return to Fort Worth as soon as I graduated high school. Well, I did...and lasted a whole 3 months. It was at that point in my life that I realized that little town in East TX was really the place I called home.
I grew up around very artsy Aunts and talented family members. I tried my hand at many different things and nothing seemed to fit. I always wondered where my talent was. As they say, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." It wasn't until I married someone that was intrigued by medieval times that I found my place. This, too, intrigued my interest. I took a class on Viking Knitting...and the rest as they say - is history.
The Viking Knitting eventually brought me to chainmaille and I haven't looked back since. I finally found what my hands were meant to do....make jewelry!
All of my chainmaille pieces are formed from a single piece of precious metal wire wrapped around a mandrel. I then saw cut the coiled wire to make individual rings that are weaved into pieces of jewelry. The Viking Knit pieces are weaved from 15 - 30 feet of precious metal wire around a wooden dowel. It is the 'old artisans'
type of silver smithing that I love and incorporate into my business.
You can rest assured that each piece is hand crafted with excellent craftsmanship!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I hope that in turn, I get to know you...
